Southern Leopard Frog
Lithobates sphenocephalus (Cope, 1886)
Amphibians

New York State Distribution [-]
In New York, the species is at the northern edge of its range and is restricted to the extreme southeastern part of the state including Staten Island and Long Island. Occurences appears to be spotty within this range. Hudson Valley records are from Orange County and Putnam County. Several of the Long Island locations are reported to be extirpated. Populations in Seneca County in central New York are apparently introduced (Gibbs et al. 2007).

Global Distribution [-]
The southern leopard frog ranges from southern New York to the Florida Keys, west to eastern Texas, and north to Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and southern Ohio (Conant and Collins 1991).
